PhD Seminar
WELCOME to a two-day symposium dedicated to the exploration of the musical quantities of sound, silence and space.
The Academy of Music and Drama and HDK-Valand Research School invites you to an open PhD Symposium, 25-26 April 2022
Sound - Slience - Space
WELCOME to a two-day symposium dedicated to the exploration of the musical quantities of sound, silence and space. Through a series of presentations and performances we invite you to reflect on the ways these three phenomena, taken together, articulate the necessary conditions for making music. Arising from cognition distributed among both human and non-human actors, musicking transcends the confines of time, leaving ephemeral traces of sound and silence in the liminal spaces of experience. The symposium is structured as a journey, with the touchstone of ecstasy as point of reference, and the manifold channels of artistic research as guide. We hope you will enter with open ears, and leave with an abundance of questions.
Organized by Esaias Järnegard and Mark Tatlow.
KEYNOTE: Simone Kotva. Presentations and workshops by Elisabeth Laasonen Belgrano, Mark D Price, Liv Kristin Holmberg, Zesses Seglias, Nana Bugge Rasmussen, Emily Pahlawal Collinson, Mark Tatlow, and Sori Choi and Esaias Järnegard.
