In autumn 2025, the Department Council endorsed an initiative, proposed, among others, by the department’s international officers, to review how HDK-Valand operates in relation to existing internationalisation guidelines, whether these guidelines are sufficient, and how the department’s procedures for assessment and decision-making are structured.
The Research Council and the Education Council at HDK-Valand were commissioned by the Head of Department to develop guidelines, processes and support for staff and managers in matters relating to responsible internationalisation. The working group consists of:
- International Coordinator Cecilia Eriksen-Wijk, who is leading the group during the spring
- Assistant Head (Education) Hans Ekelund
- Assistant Head (Research) Niclas Östlind
- Professor Mick Wilson and Senior Lecturer Margaretha Häggström from the Research Council
- Lecturer Nils Kristofferson and Lecturer Sofia Gräsberg from the Education Council
Students are welcome to provide input to the continued work through their representatives in the Education Council, the Research Council and the Department Council.
The work on responsible internationalisation concerns the entire University. HDK-Valand’s working group has been in contact with Linn Holm, the University’s coordinator for this area, in order to gain a broader and deeper understanding of how these issues are addressed across the University.
The working group will submit an initial report to the Department Council on 25 March, and a final report will be presented to the Council in June.
