Faculties and departments
Faculties and departments organise and run the University's educations. They handle, for example, study administration, facilities, and complaints concerning your education.
Faculties and departments
The University is organised into departments and faculties – and this matters for you as a student.
The department is responsible for your education and research within one or more subjects. This is where you go with questions about your studies, administrative matters and complaints about your education.
The faculty brings together several departments in related subject areas. It is responsible for premises, coordinates resources and works to ensure and develop the quality of your education.
In addition to departments and faculties, there is a university-wide administration that handles matters affecting all students – regardless of your programme – such as the GU card, student systems and student health services.
Find your faculty and department
All faculties and departments have information pages on the Student Portal with contact details, an overview of premises and relevant documents.
If you are on a degree program, several departments may be involved in your education. One department is always responsible for the program as a whole, but different departments may be responsible for individual program courses.
Not sure which department is responsible for your studies? Log in to the Student Portal and go to My Page.
