CY Cergy Paris Université is located in Cergy-Pontoise, a suburb of Paris with 200,000 inhabitants. The university was formed in 2020 through a merger of the Université de Cergy-Pontoise, the School of Engineering EISTI and the COMUE Paris Seine. The newly formed university also integrates two graduate schools: ILEPS (sports and educational sciences) and EPSS (social work), and has the ESSEC Business School as a strategic partner.
The university has 25 000 students, 1200 researchers and a large campus in the heart of Cergy-Pontoise. The aim is to make the campus the third largest in the Paris region.

CY Cergy Paris University offers a wide range of courses for exchange students. Before applying, please carefully check the course offerings and course language.
Exchange program
You can take up to two courses from a different faculty than the one you are registered with, provided that the timetable allows it. Please note that this is not possible with CY's School of Political Science (Sciences Po Saint-Germain) and Institute of Education (INSPE) since campuses are not in Cergy, contrary to the other Faculties.
There are no courses offered in the artistic subject areas.
Erasmus+ grant
France is part of the Erasmusprogramme – which means that you can receive an Erasmus+grant if you do an exchange period at CY Cergy Paris University.

Language Requirements
- For the International Langues Department (Langues Etrangères Internationales - LCE Anglais) the language requested is B2 in English/French
- For the Computer Science Department at CY TECH, a B2 in French/English is also requested
- At the School of Law of CY Cergy Paris Université, you have to provide a B2 in French (compulsory) if they want to take courses that are taught in French, and a B2 in English if they decide to follow English-taught courses
- At the Institute of Economics (IE): no language certificate is required. But, if you select classes taught in French, the level C1 is strongly recommended. And for the classes taught in English (for second-year students and 1st-year Master students), the level B1/B2 is recommended. There will be no assessment of the your level, but you must be able to follow the course, produce written work and pass exams in the target language
- At the Faculty of 'Lettres Modernes': For undegraduate students, a level B2 in French is needed. Master students have to provide a DALF C.
- At the Faculty of Biology: Few English-thaught classes are available, it is therefore important for you to speak and understand French. The level in French is B2. Very often teachers at the Faculty of Biology agree that exam papers can be written in English
- Civil Engineering Department: You have to provide a B1 level in French and a level B2 in English. But keep in mind that the Civil Engineering Department has only few classes taught in English.
- Chemistry: A B2 in French is also recommended. No English level is requested.
