Reading list, course and programme syllabuses
The reading list outlines the required course materials, while course and programme content are described in syllabi. It’s important to review these to understand both your expectations for the education and what is expected of you.
How to find your reading list or syllabus
Accessing your reading list, course syllabus, or programme syllabus varies between different courses and programmes:
- For some educations, links to your reading list or syllabus are available directly on My page.
- For most educations, you can use the search service Find Syllabus and reading list on gu.se.
- However, some educations may publish these outside the search service and My page (for example, in the course room on Canvas). In such cases, you will receive information from your programme about what applies to you.
Always double-check that it is the correct semester!
Reading lists, course syllabuses, and programme syllabuses may differ between different semesters. If you look them up on your own, you should therefore check the specified semester.
Reading list
What you need to read for a course is listed in a reading list and/or a compilation of other relevant course materials. You should have access to information about course literature at least eight weeks before the course starts.
Course syllabus
The course syllabus contains the regulations for your course. I describes the central elements of a course, such as entry requirements, the learning outcomes and central content, teaching methods, forms of assessment and grading scales and main field of study.
You should have access to your syllabus no later than two weeks before the course starts. (Course syllabuses can be revised up until two weeks before the course starts.)
Programme syllabus
A programme syllabus applies only to degree programmes, not to freestanding courses. It describes, among other things, the courses included in the programme, the specific entry requirements, and other necessary regulations.
