Laws and regulations

There's several laws, regulations and policies that determine what rights and responsibilities you have at the University of Gothenburg.

Laws and regulations

Higher education in Sweden is regulated by different types of laws. It is mainly the Higher Education Act, the Higher Education Ordinance and the Statute Book of the Swedish Council for Higher Education that govern higher education in Sweden. However, the universities and university colleges can regulate a lot on their own.

At the University of Gothenburg, there are local governing documents regarding first-, second-, and third-cycle programmes. Decisions are made by the board of governors, vice-chancellor or some other official body and are to govern the operation of the university in some specific way.
