Institute of Medicine
At the Institute of Medicine, we conduct education and research in health and medicine from molecule to society in close collaboration with the healthcare system.
At the Institute of Medicine, we are developing the healthcare of the future. Our research and education is conducted around the major public diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, obesity, asthma and diabetes. We offer courses and programmes for those who like to work with people and want to contribute to public health worldwide.
The department belongs to the faculty of the Sahlgrenska Academy and is one of the largest departments at the University of Gothenburg with nearly 700 people working as researchers, doctoral students, teachers and with administrative support.
The Institute of Medicine offers the following programs and courses:
- Dietetics programme
- The Master's programme in global health
- Master's programme in Public Health Sciences
- Supplementary Programme for Physicians with a Medical Degree from outside EU/EES and Switzerland
- Freestanding courses
- Courses within other programmes

Sahlgrenska Academy's Student Union
Sahlgrenska Academy's Student Union (SAKS) is the student union for everyone who studies at the Sahlgrenska Academy faculty. SAKS is run by students, for students. The Student Union exists to improve your student life by monitoring your education and arranging study social activities that you can take part in.
