Programme overview
Interdisciplinarity and participating departments
In order for you to acquire a broad perspective and the tools needed to address complex global health challenges, the programme integrates theories and methods from four faculties and five departments:
- Institute of Medicine at Sahlgrenska Academy
- Department of Social Work at the Faculty of Social Science
- Department of Economics at the School of Business, Economics and Law
- Department of Literature, History of Ideas and Religion at the Faculty of Humanities
- School of Global Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences

The programme is developed through a council and a collegium, where all participating departments and course coordinators are represented, together with the students.

Study abroad - Exchanges
The University of Gothenburg has exchange agreements with universities worldwide. Students in the international public or global health programmes can apply for course-based exchanges during the third semester. Please note that internships are not included in these agreements.
University-wide agreements
Managed by the International Centre (IC), these agreements are open to students from all faculties and cover a wide range of subject areas. Students are responsible for ensuring that relevant courses are available at the host institution before applying.
Faculty-specific agreements (Sahlgrenska Academy)
These are developed in collaboration with specific programmes and are only available to students enrolled in those programmes. Currently, there are no active faculty-specific agreements within the Master's Programme in Public/ Global Health.
