Department of Sociology and Work Science
With us, you can study society and human interaction within it from a variety of perspectives. We offer programmes in sociology, criminology, labour science and human resources.
As a student, you will learn to understand and explain social phenomena, identify problems and critically examine different explanatory models. You will be exposed to current research, learn about different theoretical perspectives and how they can be applied to the society we live in. Together, we will explore, ask new questions and challenge our way of thinking. Perhaps you will question things that you previously took for granted?
At the department, you will meet competent teachers and researchers, often with great social commitment. Teaching is given in various forms such as lectures, seminars, workshops, flipped classroom, drama and process pedagogy.

Considerations Before and During a Fire
Evacuation alarm
When the evacuation alarm sounds, it is always a real alarm, and you should leave the premises immediately! Emergency Evacuation Routes and Actions During an Evacuation
Emergency evacuation routes are marked with green signs on the ceiling. If the alarm goes off, exit the building through the nearest smoke-free evacuation route and proceed to the assembly point. Elevators must not be used during evacuation.
Once you are outside
Proceed to the assembly point. The assembly point is located at Haga Church Square, situated between Haga Church and the Social Sciences Library.
The cessation of the evacuation alarm does not necessarily mean the danger is over. Therefore, never re-enter the building until the fire department or the designated evacuation leader has given clearance.
Be prepared
Study the evacuation plans posted in all university buildings. These plans provide information about evacuation routes, the location of firefighting equipment, fire alarm buttons, and the designated assembly point.
Firefighting Equipment
Firefighting equipment is located in several places within the premises. Red signs indicate the locations of firefighting equipment. All fires start small, and early intervention makes a significant difference. If you discover a fire, extinguish it if you deem it possible, but do not expose yourself to unnecessary risks.
