Campuses and study areas
The University of Gothenburg has locations across the city, so you'll find study spaces in several areas. We also have a few campuses outside of Gothenburg. Your main campus or study area depends on who is responsible for your education, but most or our locations offer study spaces open to all students.
Study spaces – whatever you're studying
Throughout the university and in the university library, there are several areas with study spaces, both for individual and group study. Almost all study spaces in our study areas are available to all students. Read more about which open study spaces are available on the respective campus page.
There are also bookable study areas (such as group rooms, computer rooms and laboratories) that are education-specific and can only be booked by students at a particular faculty or department.
Airborne allergies
The University of Gothenburg does not have a university-wide policy regarding the presence of airborne allergens in its premises. One exception is the university's shared examination rooms, where nuts are prohibited.
Local adjustments can be made based on needs that arise, and certain faculties/departments currently have their own guidelines due to individual needs. Check with a representative of your department to find out what applies in the premises where you are staying.
However, it should be emphasised that, despite local guidelines, it is not possible for the University of Gothenburg to guarantee that the premises are free from these allergens, as we do not, for example, search bags at entrances. People with airborne allergies should take this into account when visiting our premises.
Dogs on the premises
Unfortunately, pets are not allowed in the university's buildings and premises.
Assistance dogs (guide dogs) are permitted, provided that they are trained and certified assistance dogs that the person has been prescribed. The assistance dog must wear its service vest and the handler must carry the relevant ID. The dog must not pose a safety risk, conflicting accessibility requirements must have been resolved, and documentation of this must be available.
If an assistance dog is to accompany you, this must be discussed in advance with the department responsible for your education.
