Campus Mariestad

Campus Mariestad offers you an educational environment where theory and practice meet, and where collaboration between programmes creates a dynamic and creative atmosphere.

How to find us

The main building is located on Magasinsgatan, and the carpentry workshop, building yard, garden centre and brickworks are within walking distance. The premises also house the Crafts Laboratory, which is a national centre for cultural heritage crafts and part of the department.

Public transport and parking

Parking spaces are available next to the main building at Magasinsgatan 4. A parking permit is required and can be obtained from the reception desk in the main building entrance. The reception desk is open from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.

Opening hours

The entrance to the main building is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. With a key tag, you have access to the building and other premises until 10 p.m. on weekdays and weekends.

Key tags for our various premises are distributed by our technician when you begin your studies.

As a student in Mariestad, you are not dependent on the GU card, but it makes it easier when you need to print something. When ordering a GU card, it is important that you select Mariestad as the pick-up location. When the card is ready for collection, you will receive an email informing you to pick up the card at the library.

How to order your GU card

Accessibility

The main building has a ramp to the entrance and there is a lift next to the stairwell. Automatic door openers are located at the entrance with the ramp. The majority of lecture halls have freestanding tables that can be used by wheelchair users. Accessible toilets (HWV) are located on floors 2, 3 and 4. The auditorium on floor 4 has a hearing loop.

Who is located here?

The Department of Cultural Heritage, which also has premises in the Natrium building on the Medicinareberget campus.

Other activities in the building include the Dacapo Mariestad vocational college and Mariestad Municipality's LSS activities.

Finding your way around the premises

There is an orientation sign in the entrance hall showing where the various rooms are located in the building. If you have difficulty finding your way, you can ask for help at the reception desk at the entrance.

Lecture halls

The lecture halls in the main building are located on floors 2, 3 and 4. The halls are equipped with projectors and whiteboards. Practical teaching takes place in the carpentry workshop, the building yard, the gardening workshop and the masonry workshop.

Library

The library is located in the main building. In the library, you will find craft literature and reference copies of course literature. Adjacent to the library is a quiet reading room and a computer room. Our librarian can help with information searches and other library-related questions.
As a student, you have access to the library on weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Printers

There are GU printers in the corridor on the ground floor and in the library on the same floor, which you can use for printing, scanning and copying.

Study areas

The library has quiet study areas and there is also a quiet reading room directly adjacent. On the same floor, there is a computer room and group rooms. Additional study areas are available on floors 3 and 4.

Food and refreshments on campus
There is a café offering refreshments and sandwiches. The café also has refrigerators and microwaves where you can store and heat your own food.

Rest room

The rest room is located in the main building on the ground floor, in the same corridor as the library. The rest room is room number 226.

Safety in our premises

In the event of a fire, go to the assembly point located by the bicycle parking area.

Lost property and fault reports

Please speak to reception on the ground floor if you have lost something. You can also contact the department's technician if you have lost something or need to report a fault in the premises. The caretaker's office is located in the basement of the main building.

Services and support on campus

Study administration

Our librarian, who also works as a study administrator, can answer questions about registration and grade reporting in Ladok and the Canvas learning platform.

Study counsellor

If you have questions about career opportunities, eligibility, applications or admissions, you are welcome to book an appointment with our study counsellor. The study counsellor can also help you with questions about study planning and educational support for students with disabilities.

Service Centre / Caretaker's Office

If you need practical help, a service technician can assist with, among other things, user support for technical equipment in teaching rooms, minor relocations and repairs, distribution of parcels and help with locks and alarms.

The caretaker's office in Mariestad is located in the basement of the main building at Magasinsgatan 4 in Mariestad.

Student association

The student association's premises are located in the basement of the main building and are used for events and various social activities. The student association consists of students studying at the Department of Cultural Heritage Conservation and students enrolled in the vocational college programmes offered by Dacapo Mariestad.
