Note-taker

Are you good at taking notes? Do you enjoy helping others? Being a note-taker is a paid assignment in which you help a student in need of disability study support by sharing your notes from lectures and other teaching sessions.

What does the assignment involve?

When providing note-taking support, you will be paid to share your notes from lectures and other teaching sessions with one or more students.

The notes must:

  • be clear and well-structured
  • include both information from lecture materials (such as PowerPoint slides) and what the lecturer was talking about
  • be typed on a computer using any writing programme. On some courses, it is more common to write by hand; in such cases, you can scan or photograph the notes and send them to the student.

The notes should ideally be shared on the same day or the day after the lecture. You share your notes either via email or via a shared document.

When providing note-taking support it is important that you attend all lectures and seminars, except in cases such as illness.

The assignment is for one semester at a time.

Compensation

The fee is the same regardless of whether you take notes for one or more students:

  • 2,240 SEK for 30 credits within one semester
  • 1,120 SEK for 15 credits within one semester
  • 560 SEK for 7.5 credits within one semester

The assignment is considered temporary and does not, for example, entitle you to unemployment benefit, sickness benefit or an occupational pension.  Holiday pay is not included, and there is no additional compensation for inconvenient working hours.

The fee is paid at the end of the term or, for shorter assignments, upon completion of the course.

Requirements

To start an assignment, you must

  • have a Swedish personal identity number or coordination number. This is necessary for tax purposes. Exceptions are only made in special cases following an individual assessment.
  • not be employed by the university. You may, however, have other assignments, such as acting as a student ambassador or mentor.

How do I get a note-taking support assignment?

You can submit an expression of interest if you’re interested in becoming a note-taker.

You will only be contacted regarding your expression of interest if you are offered the assignment. When you are offered the assignment, you will also receive further information, including how to register and how to report your remuneration.

What is study support for students with disabilities?

Students with a documented long-term disability can receive study support. The study support provided is designed to suit the student’s needs and can consist of many forms of adjustments. One example of study support is to have note-taking support.
