Campus Medicinareberget

The Medicinareberget campus is located near the Sahlgrenska University Hospital area between Guldheden and Linnéstaden. It is home to the Sahlgrenska Academy (the medical faculty) and large parts of the Faculty of Science and Technology.

Accessibility in Natrium

In Natrium, each floor has two accessible toilets, one in each toilet group. They are equipped with safety alarms with red push buttons. Alarms are indicated locally with sound and a red flashing light for each room. Alarms are reset inside each room by pressing the green reset button.

Hearing loops are available in the Stenbrottet multi-purpose hall, the Korallrevet collaboration hall and the large Orangeriet lecture hall.

Natrium does not have its own car park, but there is an accessible parking space at the main entrance at Medicinaregatan 7B. To park there, please contact reception for instructions.

Access

The university's premises are primarily intended for education and research, and the laws and regulations governing the university's activities do not stipulate any obligation to provide or make premises available to the general public.

Access to Natrium

A GU card is required to access the various functions of the building. With a GU card, you can access lecture halls and group rooms in Natrium, for example. Students registered for a specific course are also given access to relevant laboratories.

Directions

The Medicinaregatan and Sahlgrenska huvudentré stops are the closest stops to Campus Medicinareberget. There are plenty of tram and bus lines that take you to all parts of Gothenburg. You can easily find which tram or bus line to take using Västtrafik's travel planner.

If you are driving, the entrance to Medicinareberget is via Medicinaregatan, which turns off from Guldhedsgatan. There are plenty of parking spaces around the hill, and there is also a car park at Medicinaregatan 18 G. Charging stations for electric cars are available at two parking spaces, on the road up to Medicinaregatan 1 and at Medicinaregatan 14.

Bicycle parking is available in several places on Medicinareberget, including under the roof outside Medicinaregatan 7B and by the side walkway at Medicinaregatan 21.

Study areas

There are study areas throughout Medicinareberget that all students can use. Study areas are available in the following locations, for example:

In Natrium. There are various types of study areas on floors 2 and 3. There are also group rooms that are available when they are not booked for teaching. The same applies to the lecture halls in Natrium
In the basement, with an entrance between Medicinaregatan 7B and 9A. There are 140 places here, both individual and group rooms.

  • In the Lundberg Laboratory at Medicinaregatan 9C.
  • In the Salt&Syra restaurant (except between 11 a.m. and 1.30 p.m. when it is lunch time)
  • In Medicinarelängan.
  • At the Biomedical Library

Quiet room and rest room

Medicinaregatan 5B, floor 1000, room no.: 1152, one floor down from the wing. The room is also accessible to people with reduced mobility, as it is located next to the lift. Opening hours: 6.30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The room can be used by both students and staff who need a moment for meditation, reflection or prayer. The room cannot be booked. It is possible for several people to use it at the same time. Visitors are asked to turn off their mobile phones so as not to disturb others. The room is not intended for organised meetings, group activities, studies, conversations or exercise.

There are two large cupboards in the room where regular visitors can store a prayer mat or other items they need to carry out their quiet activities. After your visit, the room must be restored to its original condition and the doors to the lockers must be kept closed. The lockers will be emptied twice a year: at the turn of the year and at the end of the spring semester.

Safety in our premises

Water/drinking water
Water in the laboratory environment must not be used as drinking water.

Fire alarms
Sodium and relevant parts of Medicinarelängan are equipped with automatic fire alarm systems. Smoke, heat and line detectors or alarm buttons trigger alarms, fire alarm bells and flashing lights.

Evacuation and assembly points
Evacuation plans are posted at Medicinareberget showing evacuation routes, fire extinguishers, evacuation points in case of fire and assembly points.

The evacuation routes are marked with green evacuation signs. Evacuation routes, stairwells and airlocks must be kept clear and must not contain any flammable materials. Lifts must not be used in the event of a fire.

Natrium
Natrium is equipped with an automatic sprinkler system.
Close doors behind you when evacuating, as this will slow down the spread of fire and dangerous smoke.

Storage

Storage lockers in Natrium
On floors 2 and 3 in Natrium, there are storage lockers that you can lock with your GU card. The lockers are primarily intended for those who have classes in the laboratories where outer clothing is not allowed.
