Study Spaces Set for a Summer Upgrade

Published

During the summer of 2026, several study spaces at the Faculty of Social Sciences will be upgraded. New furniture, more power outlets and an improved study environment are some of the planned improvements – and you can have your say.

A majority of the furniture in the faculty’s study spaces has been in use since the mid-1990s and is now in need of replacement. Therefore, work will begin in summer 2026 to renew several study areas while also improving the overall study environment.

The work will start on level B2 (“Hyllan”) and on level C2 near the passage to Kafé Haga. In addition to new furniture, the upgrade will include more power outlets, improved ergonomics and measures to enhance the acoustic environment.

The selection of new furniture is carried out in consultation with the Göta Student Union. The focus is on sustainability, functionality and accessibility for all students. Wherever possible, furniture that is replaced will be reused within the university or elsewhere in the City of Gothenburg.
