Relocation from Lindholmen under further investigation

Published

The Department of Applied Information Technology needs to review its premises. During the spring, the possibility of the department moving from Lindholmen to Natrium on Medicinarberget in connection with the turn of the year is being investigated.
– The aim is that most of the teaching will then move to Medicinareberget in connection with the autumn semester 2026, says Dean Göran Hilmersson.

Since Chalmers plans to leave Lindholmen, the issue of premises has also become relevant for the University of Gothenburg's activities there. In the autumn of 2024, a site investigation was conducted, which examined four different alternatives. The conclusion was that a move to Natrium, where five of the Faculty of Science and Technology's departments are currently located, would be most favourable.

During the spring, the possibility of a move is being investigated in two sub-projects, one of which focuses on teaching facilities, study places and study social spaces, as well as the working environment for students. The sub-project is led by Vice Dean Roland Barthel, and both student unions are represented.

A decision on implementation will be taken by the Faculty Board on 18 June.
