How to find us
HDK-Valand is centrally located in the city, around the corner from Kungsportsavenyen and Röhsska The museum of Design and Craft.
HDK-Valand is easy to reach by public transport. The nearest bus and tram stop is "Valand".

- Vasagatan 50 (also entrance via Storgatan 43).
The two buildings are located a short walking distance from each other (3 minutes).
Opening hours and access
- The main entrance on Kristinelundsgatan is open during the same hours as the Art Library: Monday–Friday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
- At Vasagatan, only students with access cards can enter the main entrances.
- For visitors with a GU card from the Artistic Faculty, all premises are open Monday–Sunday 7 a.m.–midnight.
- During public events the doors are open.
Accessibility
On Kristinelundsgatan, there is a wheelchair ramp from street level leading up to the main entrance and an elevator directly behind the entrance. Public toilets are available in the main entrance, one stair up.
At Vasagatan, wheelchair accessible entrances are available via Chalmersgatan and the courtyard.
Who can you find here?
These premises are home to course and programme students studying at HDK-Valand.
HDK-Valand also operates at Steneby in Dals Långed.
Vasagatan 50 is also home to a number of programme students from the Academy of Music and Drama.
The Academy of Music and Drama also operates at Campus Johanneberg (Eklandagatan 86), Brewhouse (Åvägen 24) and Andra stället (Triörgatan 1).
Konstnärliga - a new building for the Artistic Faculty
Between the years 2027 and 2029, HDK-Valand and the Academy of Music and Drama, will move to a new building at Götaplatsen, called Konstnärliga.

Library
The Art Library is located next to the main entrance on Kristinelundsgatan. The library is open to public during the semester.

Study areas
On Kristinelundsgatan, the doors are open to anyone who wants to visit the Art Library or sit in the former café to study. The number of public study areas is limited.
On Vasagatan, only students with access cards can enter the main entrances. Students at HDK-Valand or the Academy of Music and Drama have access to education-specific study areas. Here, teaching is mainly conducted for students in fine arts, photography, film, literary composition, Contemporary Performative Arts, opera, acting and teacher education.
Food, refreshments and fika on campus
There are currently no cafés at HDK-Valand on Vasagatan and Kristinelundsgatan, but there are a number of kiosks, cafés and restaurants in the surrounding area. HDK-Valand students have access to student kitchens in both buildings and students at the Academy of Music and Drama have access to a student kitchen on Vasagatan.
Nut-free area
The entire study area of Vasagatan and Kristinelundsgatan
is nut-free. This includes all types of nuts, including peanuts.
The nut ban applies to all premises, including classrooms, workshops and common rooms. The stricter rules are due to serious allergies among students. A surface that has been in contact with, for example, peanuts, walnuts or hazelnuts can trigger an allergic reaction even after being wiped clean, so nuts shall not be brought into the buildings.
Quiet room
If you need a room to rest, you can use room 513 on Kristinelundsgatan and room 2051 on Storgatan. The rooms are open and no key is required.

The caretaker's office is part of Campus Services Lorensberg.
