Dean's seminar with a focus on hate and threats in academia

Published

The final seminar in the deans' series on academic freedom and public discourse focuses on hate and threats in academia: how the phenomenon can be dealt with and what consequences it can cause.

David Brax, Doctor of Practical Philosophy and Senior Researcher at the Swedish Secretariat for Gender Research, and Åsa Wikfors, Professor of Theoretical Philosophy at Stockholm University, have been invited to the seminar.

Together with Sofia Strid, professor of sociology here at our faculty, and Pro-Dean Isabell Schierenbeck, they will discuss questions such as: How do teachers and researchers deal with hate and threats? What can management do to support teachers and researchers who are exposed to this? What are the consequences if teachers and researchers are subjected to hate and threats, and how can this ultimately affect education, research, and participation in public debate?
