Credit transfer
If you have been admitted to and are pursuing studies at the University of Gothenburg, you have the right to apply to have your previous qualifications credited. The purpose of credit transfer is to avoid having to study and be examined on knowledge you have already acquired.
What can be credited
You can apply to have previous qualifications credited as a course, part of a course, optional credits or credits within a main field of study. Previous qualifications may include, for example, Swedish or foreign higher education, professional experience, voluntary work or education outside the higher education system.
Studies from other Swedish higher education institutions affiliated with Ladok do not need to be credited if they are to correspond to optional credits.
If you need guidance
If you have questions regarding previous qualifications, what they may correspond to or what to attach to the application, please contact a study counsellor (gu.se).
Apply for credit transfer
If you are a student at the University of Gothenburg you can apply for credit transfer via Ladok. Instructions on how to apply are available in Ladok.
Please note that an approved credit transfer may affect your student finance. See the CSN website for more information.
Please note
You may revoke an approved credit transfer within three weeks from the day you received the decision. If you want to send such a request, please contact the Section of Degrees via the contact form.
Credits may not be counted twice; in other words, it is not possible to include both the previous qualification and the transferred credits in the same degree.
A previous qualification may be used as the basis for several credit transfers, but the credits from the qualification can only be counted once in a degree.
Processing time
Applications are processed in the order in which they are received. The processing time is up to eight weeks, provided that the application is complete.
Appeal
A decision regarding credit transfer can be appealed within three weeks from the day you received the decision. How to appeal
