The day ends by the canal next to the Garden Society, where 6–8 teams compete in an exciting rowing race. May the best student association win!

A student tradition since the early 20th century

Valborg celebrations at the University of Gothenburg date back to the early 20th century. The Garden Society has long been a central venue and remains so today, as students and the public gather to welcome spring with music, singing and traditions.

This year, some traditions are returning in a new form. For several decades, a so-called “tug-of-war rowing” event was held, where teams competed in connected boats. While that tradition is not being revived, it has inspired a new rowing competition featuring teams from across the University.

The arrangement will be photographed.
