At our premises
Wherever you study, you'll find information here about study spaces, safety and practical routines at our premises. Some routines vary between campuses – in those cases, we'll point you in the right direction.
Finding your way and getting in
Addresses and opening hours
If you know which campus or study area you're heading to, you'll find contact details via Our campuses and study areas. Each campus page has addresses, opening hours and information on how to find your way around. Our campuses have signs to help you navigate the premises.
If you know which faculty or department you're looking for but not where it's located, you'll find that information on the Faculties and departments page.
Access card
Most University buildings are open during the day. Outside these hours – and for spaces such as computer labs – you'll need your GU-card to get in. Some premises, such as Campus Steneby and Mariestad, have their own access system and don't use the GU-card. You'll receive information if this applies to you.
Not all students need a GU-card. If you do, you'll find more information and can order one via the link below.

Study spaces
Across the University there are study spaces for students who want to study alone or in groups. Most are open to all students, regardless of which program you're on. Each campus page has information about the study spaces available there.
Some study spaces – such as group rooms, computer labs and laboratory rooms – are program-specific and can only be booked by students at a particular faculty or department.
Security
Do you know what to do in the event of a fire, threat or other emergency at our premises? The safety at the University page has everything you need to know – from evacuation procedures to how to report crimes and incidents.
In an emergency – always call 112.
Airborne allergies
The University of Gothenburg has no university-wide policy on airborne allergens in its premises – the exception being examination halls, where nuts are prohibited. The University cannot control what other students bring into the premises. Some faculties and departments have their own guidelines. Check with your department to find out what applies where you study.
Animals on the premises
Pets are not permitted in University buildings. Certified assistance dogs are allowed, but require you to check with the department responsible for your studies in advance.
Fault reporting
Routines for reporting faults vary between our premises. Your campus page has information on how to report a fault where you study.
Lost property
Found something in our premises, or lost something yourself? Lost property routines vary between our campuses. Your campus page has information on what applies where you study.
Rest rooms, quiet rooms and baby changing facilities
Many of our campuses have rest rooms and quiet rooms for when you need a moment to yourself. Most buildings also have toilets with baby changing tables and a space for breastfeeding or pumping. Your campus page has information on what's available where you study.
