As student at HDK-Valand you are part of the University of Gothenburg. Our international knowledge environments are situated in Gothenburg and at Steneby in Dals Långed. Together with the Academy of Music and Drama we constitute the Artistic Faculty.

About HDK-Valand - Academy of Art and Design
Premises
HDK-Valand operates on three locations:
- Steneby, Hemslöjdsvägen 1, Dals Långed
- Vasagatan 50, Gothenburg
- Kristinelundsgatan 6-8. Gothenburg
Our facilities are used for education, learning and research in artistic and pedagogical subjects. When you are registered on a course at HDK-Valand, you have access to our buildings, workshops and equipment according to course needs. Ask your teacher if you are unsure of what resources you have access to.
We share the responsibility for our environments and to create a good study and work place. Leave workshops, classrooms, student spaces, etcetera in the same condition as when you arrived (or in a better state).
To ensure that everyone feels comfortable and safe in our premises, the following applies:
- Nut-free area, including peanuts, applies throughout the study area of Vasagatan and Kristinelundsgatan
- No bicycles or other large, private possessions indoors
- No alcohol without permission
- No overnight stay
- No pets indoors
Find your way on campus
It can be difficult to find what you are looking for on our campuses. Don't hesitate to ask fellow students or staff!
Book a room for studies
Depending on what kind of room you are in need of, you either book it by yourself or by contacting the responsible.
Book a group room or other study space (See bottom of the linked page. Note, you must log on to the Student Portal)
Rooms to rest
For those who need a room to rest, you may use room 513 at Kristinelundsgatan and room 2051 at Storgatan. The rooms are open and no key is required.

Borok simple audio/visual equipment in the Techshop and collect it at Campus service on Kristinelundsgatan.

Student representation in councils and groups
By being a member of Konstkåren (the student union), you can influence what happens at HDK-Valand. Students have the right to be represented in councils and groups that prepare or decide on issues of importance to the programme and the students' situation.
Konstkåren elects the student representatives among the union members.

Campus Service assists you on:
- Locks and security alarms
- Recycling
- Furniture and furnishing of premises
- Cleaning
- Loans of simple AV equipment (only at Kristinelundsgatan). Book the equipment in the Techshop

When things don't work
When you notice that something is not working as it should, it is important that you report the error.

Free tickets
As a student at the Artistic Faculty, you are entitled to one (1) free ticket per event at the Academy of Music and Drama. You can pick up your tickets at billetto.se with the code you receive at the beginning of each semester. For spring 2026 you will find the code in the news article "Free tickets to events by the Academy of Music and Drama".
