Gender. Process. Projects.

The interviews in this publication highlights a handful of women architects in North and South America. The interviews focus on the various processes in which architecture is made and exemplifies it through discussions on some of the projects realised by these architects. The interviews are compiled in their entirety, either as transcribed conversations or as summaries of the conversation.

The architects in this volume are active in different cultural contexts and architectural traditions and they provide an opportunity to reflect on what it means to work as a woman in architecture today.
A reoccurring theme in the conversations are working conditions being the most important reason for continued inequality within the profession. Gender is still an issue, and that provokes to ask the question:  is there a female architecture?

The editor, Sara Förbom, is an architect based in Göteborg, Sweden.

The event is organised by the Design Unit (Mirjana Vukoja and Gertrud Olsson).
