Finding the time and space for writing can be a challenge. By participating in a writing retreat you will have the opportunity to write in a focused environment with other students, and to learn how to sustain effective writing strategies in your studies.

About the writing retreat

The purpose of a writing retreat is to get away from the distractions of everyday life to concentrate fully on your academic writing. A retreat facilitator from the Unit for Academic Language will guide you through a structured half day of individual writing and group reflections on the writing process.

Recommendations for participants

  1. Plan ahead: What do you want to write and for what purpose?
  2. Avoid bringing anything to read (apart from your own text). The purpose of this half day is to focus on writing.
  3. Make sure that you can stay for the whole event.
