A room for quiet reflection at Medicinareberget

Published

The Sahlgrenska Academy has prepared a quiet room at Medicinareberget, available to everyone. The room can be used by both students and staff who need a moment for meditation, contemplation, or prayer.

The quiet room is intended for all activities that require particular stillness and silence. The room is also accessible for people with mobility impairments, as it is located near an elevator. You can find the quiet room labeled 1152 at Medicinaregatan 5B (Histology), one floor down from the main corridor.

For everyone

The room cannot be booked. It is possible for several people to use it at the same time. Visitors are encouraged to turn off their mobile phones to avoid disturbing others. The room is not intended for organized meetings, group activities, studies, conversations, or exercise.

In the room, there are two large cabinets where regular visitors can store a prayer mat or other items needed for their quiet activity. After your visit, the room should be returned to its original condition, and the cabinet doors must be kept closed. The cabinets will be emptied twice a year: at the turn of the year and at the end of the spring term.

It is not permitted to eat or drink in the quiet room, nor to light candles or incense.

The previous quiet rooms at Medicinareberget are being converted into silent reading spaces.

Please read the more detailed rules posted in the room when you start using it.
