The Sahlgrenska Academy has recently experienced extensive thefts, primarily of technical equipment. The faculty is now reviewing its procedures for facility security. All staff and students need to work together to protect our campus.
The thieves have accessed both teaching facilities and conference rooms at Medicinareberget, where they have primarily stolen equipment and technology used for audio-visual presentations, such as microphones, projectors, and speakers.
The thefts have become so frequent that the faculty is now reviewing security procedures for the facilities. New procedures are being developed in dialogue with the security, meeting services, and AV technology teams within the campus organization.
Employees and students are urged to ensure that doors remain closed.
“We have an open campus where facilities are usually easily accessible. In addition to disrupting our teaching and other activities when AV equipment is stolen, the thefts also entail significant extra costs,” says Annelie Tobin, head of the Sahlgrenska Academy’s administrative office.
Enhanced procedures
The Sahlgrenska Academy is developing new procedures to be implemented at the start of the term after Christmas and New Year. This means that the person responsible for the booking will unlock and lock the facility with a simple command. Information about this will be posted on each door.
One challenge involves external individuals who book facilities at Medicinareberget. A procedure for managing access cards for these individuals is being developed in dialogue with the institutes and the Service Center.
