Note that the rules for the scholarship may change before the 2025 application period.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for Adlerbert scholarships, you must:
- Have completed at least 30 credits at the University of Gothenburg.
- Be registered for at least 30 credits at the University of Gothenburg during the scholarship year (July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026) at first and second level.
- Students may receive a maximum of two scholarships during their undergraduate and graduate studies.
Adlerbert Scholarships you can apply for
You can apply for a scholarship for travel within your studies or for living expenses during your studies. The scholarship amount is SEK 15,000.
It is only possible to apply for one of the two types of scholarships per application round, and this cannot be changed after the application deadline. Scholarships for travel within studies are given priority.
Regarding the two types of scholarships:
- Scholarship for travel within studies: Scholarships to fund travel related to your studies, with priority given to trips abroad. The trip must not begin before 1 January 2025 and must be completed before the start of the autumn semester 2026. Travel to Gothenburg or trips less than 50 kilometers from Gothenburg are not eligible.
- Scholarship for living expenses: If you are not planning to travel within your studies, you can apply for a scholarship for living expenses.
Selection process
Priority
- Applications for international travel within studies are given first priority.
- If there are funds remaining to be distributed, priority is given to trips within Sweden.
- Scholarships for living expenses are given the lowest priority.
Ranking
Applications are ranked based on the highest number of university credits achieved at the University of Gothenburg by the application deadline. If there are several applicants with the same amount of university credits achieved, selection may be done with a draw.

Application period: 1 September – 26 September 2025.
How to apply: The application is made in the University's application system. Please use your student email.
Required documentation: What your application should include depends on the scholarship you are applying for.
- For travel scholarships: Submit details of the destination, dates, and a brief explanation of the purpose of the trip and its relevance to your studies, as well as s cost breakdown for the trip.
- For living expense scholarships: No motivation is required. This scholarship is a contribution towards living expenses during your studies at the University of Gothenburg (July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026).

Reporting costs
After your travel, you must report the costs covered by the scholarship in the application system. Submit your report no later than one month after returning from your trip or receiving a retroactive scholarship payment. Receipts or supporting documents are not required for reporting.
Changing your trip
If you cannot use the scholarship for the original trip, the funds may be used for another study-related trip. Indicate the change in your report and specify the new destination and/or dates.
Refunds if the travel scholarship is not used
If you cannot use your scholarship for travel, you must repay the funds. Contact adlerbertska@gu.se if you must repay your funds.
