  • The Adlerbert scholarships

    The University of Gothenburg is annually allocated funds from the Adlerbertska foundations. The amount is currently SEK 15,000 per scholarship. 

    The next applicationperiod is 28 of August to 22 of September 2023



    Requirements

    To be eligible for Adlerbert scholarships, you should:

    • conducted studies for two semesters at the University of Gothenburg
    • acquired at least 30 higher education credits at the University of Gothenburg
    • have a registration of at least 30 higher education credits at the University of Gothenburg during the scholarship year,
    • only received the scholarship once before.

     

    Rules

    Adlerbert scholarships at the University of Gothenburg awards scholarships with priority for travel abroad within the studies. If there is money left to distribute, travel within Sweden is prioritized, followed by Housing Scholarship and then Study Scholarship.
    You can apply for a Study scholarship, travel scholarship and housing scholarship in the same application. You can only receive one scholarship per application round

    Travel scholarship - must contain information about the destination, time and purpose of the trip, as well as a cost specification. Travel to Gothenburg and travel that is less than 50 km from Gothenburg is not included.
    Applying for a scholarship for travel can include a maximum of two different trips. The travel may not begin before the 1 of January 2022 and must be completed no later than 30 of June 2024.

    Housing scholarship - is done by filling in Rental cost per month. The scholarship is a contribution to your rental costs during your studies at the University of Gothenburg during the scholarship year.

    Study scholarship - All applications are counted as an application for a study scholarship. A study scholarship is for expenses around your studies at the University of Gothenburg during the scholarship year.

    Selection

    The scholarship funds are divided in proportion for each faculty. The pot is then divided between the basic level and the advanced level. Applications for travel abroad are prioritized and ranked according to the maximum number achieved credits at the University of Gothenburg. Next priority is travel within Sweden and finally Housing Scholarship and Study Scholarship.

     

    Reporting

    Applicants who have received a travel scholarship must report the costs covered by the scholarship in the application system (exceptionally on a paper form which is signed and sent by post). The report shall be made latest one month after the travel or after the payment of the Scholarship is made.

    Reallocation

    In the event that a travel scholarship granted cannot be used for the applied travel, it is possible to apply for reallocation for another travel relevant to the studies. A scholarship can only be reallocated once. Reallocation is done when reporting the travel, marking that the travel has changed since the application date.
     

    Remaining funds

    If you have remaining funds from the scholarship after the travel(s) has been made, you can use it for living and study expenses, or for another trip relevant for your studies.

    If you cannot use your scholarship and must repay the scholarship funds, contact adlerbertska@gu.se

  • The Adlerbertska Foreign Student Hospitality Foundation

    As a guest student at the University of Gothenburg you have the opportunity to receive a scholarship from the Adlerbertska Hospitality Foundation. The amount of the scholarship varies, in recent years the amount has been SEK 4000-5000 per scholarship.


    The application period 2023 is between 16 January to 28 February.

    Requirements

    To be eligible for the Adlerbertska Hospititality Foundation

    • You should be a guest student at the University of Gothenburg and intend to return to your home country after studies,
    • You must be registered at the University of Gothenburg during the scholarship year,
    • The study period should cover at least three months,
    • You do not receive Swedish study support (CSN),
    • You do not have a permanent residence permit in Sweden,
    • You have not received the scholarship before.

    The application is made in the university's application system. Please use your email adress that you use in the Student portal at the University of Gothenburg.

  • The Foundation Kungliga and Hvitfeldtska

    The Foundation Kungliga and Hvitfeldtska is annually awarding grants to students at Swedish universities. The scholarship awarded is SEK 15 000.

    Next appliction opens in August 24th 2023.

    The grant is founded to promote students from former Göteborg and Bohus County and diocese of Göteborg, Sweden, studying at the University of Gothenburg

    Qualifications

    To be qualified to apply:

    • You are a student at undergraduate or master level at the University of Gothenburg
    • You have a high school diploma from a school situated in the former geography of Göteborg and Bohus (see map below)
    • You are born in Göteborg Parish or was registrered there when starting high school
    • You are less well-off
    • You inspire good hopes of success in scientific studies
    • You have passed at least 60 ECTS
    • You intend to graduate at a Swedish university, Stockholm School of Economics or Chalmers University of Technology
    • All credits counts regardless of the changes of courses and programs that have taken place.

    Bergliot

    The Foundation Bergliot Kihlberg Anderson is annually awarding grants to students from The foundation Bergliot Kihlberg Anderson.

    The grant is founded to promote students from Lysekil, Sweden, studying at the University of Gothenburg

    Qualifications

    To be qualified to apply you are a student:

    • at undergraduate or graduate level at the University of Gothenburg and
    • descending from Lysekil and have a high school diploma from Lysekil

    You can apply and be granted a scholarship twice. Your application should include:

    • Motivation, why you should be choosen for the grant
    • Birth certificate, your own or one from a close relative showing place of birth

  • The Evenson foundation

    The Evensonska foundation awards scholarships to students studying at the University of Gothenburg with a connection to the province of Värmland.
    Requirements
    To be eligible to apply you must be a student at the University of Gothenburg and have a connection to the province of Värmland (for example a place of birth, residence, place of education) and be under 30 years of age. Students from Glava parish have priority.

    To be approved for a scholarship you must have at least one year of study in the subject you are applying for. Also, you need to belong to any of these four categories:


    A) Student who intends to serve within the Church of Sweden as a priest, deacon or church musician.
    B) Student intending to become a secondary or primary school teacher of European modern languages, with the exception of English, and with preference for the German language.
    C) Doctoral students in gastroenterology, with preference for studies on Crohn´s disease or
    D) Doctoral students in medical kidney diseases


    You can apply and be granted a scholarship three times.


    Application

    Your application must be registered in the application system and should be verified with BankId.
    Applicants must prove a connection to Värmland by presenting, for example, a birth certificate or a graduation certificate. Students from Glava must attach documents proving provenance in order to gain preference. Applicants must also justify their suitability and aptitude for the studies for which a scholarship is applied for. Anyone who has received an admission letter from the Church of Sweden should attach it.


    Next application period is November 15th to  December 15th, 2023.

  • Scholarships for students at the "Faculty of Philosophy"

    The University of Gothenburg has its roots in the Gothenburg University College, which consisted of the philosophical faculties. The foundations still today give scholarships and grants to students, research students, professors and lecturers active in the "Faculty of Philosophy" at the University of Gothenburg.
    The "Faculty of Philosophy" includes a department which, before July 1, 1977, was part of one of the then philosophical faculties.

    What counts as a "Faculty of Philosophy" today?

    • Department at the Faculty of Humanities
    • Department at the Faculty of Science
    • Department at the School of Business, Economics and Law
    • The following departments at the Faculty of Social Sciences: Department of Psychology, Department of Sociology and Work Science, Department of Political Science and Department of Global Studies
    • For the Faculty of Education, students are included in, for example, the subject of pedagogy (Teacher education is not included)


    Responsible for the distribution of scholarships and grants from the philosophical faculties is the Grants Committee of the Philosophical Faculties.

     

  • The Donation Board Scholarships

    If you are a student at a department that belongs to "Faculty of Philosophy" at the University of Gothenburg, you can apply for a scholarship from the Donation Board. The scholarship amount is SEK 10,000 or according to special regulations.


    Application period opens January 8th, 2024 to March 1st, 2024


    Requirements

    To be eligible for the donation board's scholarship, you qualify if you are:

    • registered at the "Faculty of Philosophy" at the University of Gothenburg at the time of application,
    • studying since at least two semesters and have obtained at least 60 credits at the "Faculty of Philosophy" at the University of Gothenburg,
    • an active student at the "Faculty of Philosophy" at the University of Gothenburg during the calendar year the scholarship is awarded. (As an active student, the person who studies at full or half speed is counted, ie will take a total of 30 credits during 2023),
    • below a total income of SEK 193 200
    • a student not having received the scholarship before.

     

    Special requirements
    The Donation Board's scholarships are awarded from several foundations. Special regulations apply to some of the foundations. Applicants who meet the criteria can be given priority for dividends from the foundation, which means a higher scholarship amount.

    • The Ludvig and Elin Stavenow Foundation's scholarship fund awards scholarships to a student who has been a member of the Göta student union for at least one year and graduated from upper secondary school less than five years ago.

    The application is made in the university's application system. If your application applies to a specific foundation, it must be stated in the precedence tab. In order for your application to be complete, it should be confirmed with BankID.

    Decision

    Decisions are made by the Grants Committee of the Philosophical Faculties in the middle of April and will be communicated to all applicants after that.

    Reporting

    Students at the undergraduate and graduate level should not report costs.

    Refund

    If changes occur during the scholarship year that may affect the right to the scholarship, you should notify The Grants Committee of the Philosophical Faculties. If the board finds that you are no longer entitled to the scholarship, it should be refunded.

  • Special grants from Berghaus

    Grants can be applied for various purposes for the benefit of students in the "Faculty of Philosophy" at the University of Gothenburg.


    Next application opens 17 January 2024.

    Grants are awarded for various student activities such as student talk, choral activities, cabaret and theater sets, etc. within the "Faculty of Philosophy". Grants can also be awarded as temporary support for the publication of journals or as part-financing of various projects for the benefit of students in the "Faculty of Philosophy".

    Criteria and amount

    Please note the following criterias considered by the Grants Committee:

    The activity will benefit many students, be concrete and realistic. Alcohol and other drugs will not be financed.

    An activity is usually financed at a maximum of SEK 20 000. 

    Application

    The application should be sent in the university's application system. The application must include budget and specify time period. The application is complete when the status indicates "Submitted". It does not need to be signed or sent by mail.

    Reporting

    Grants shall be used during the year in which the grant is granted. A brief report describing your implemented activity/project and the funds spent must be submitted to the Donation Board via the university´s application system latest January 31st 2025.

  • Foundation Gunnar Fröbergs Memorial Fund

    Scholarships are awarded to students in the "Faculty of Philosophy" with disabilities, chronic or acute disease. The amount is SEK 15,000.

    Next application period is August 22nd  - September 14th,  2023

    “Support to students at the Faculty of Philosophy as a contribution to their education. Students should preferably study modern languages. Support should be distributed to students who, due to disability, more or less chronic or acute disease in recent years have had difficulties to struggle with in order to carry out their studies. "

    Requirements

    To be eligible for the scholarship, you should, at the time of application:

    • be registered and studying at least one semester at the "Faculty of Philosophy" at the University of Gothenburg,
    • having received at least 30 credits at the "Faculty of Philosophy" at the University of Gothenburg,
    • being an active student at the "Faculty of Philosophy" at the University of Gothenburg during the calendar year the scholarship is awarded. (An active student is studying at full or half speed, ie, will take a total of 30 credits during the calendar year),
    • medical certificates to prove disability, chronic illness or acute illness.

    The Gustaf Stern Foundation

    Scholarships of SEK 10,000 are now available to master students pursuing studies for a degree in English language.

    Application period is February 1st to February 28th, 2024.

    Requirements

    To be eligible for the Stern scholarship at the time of application you have to be:

    • registered at the master´s programme at the Department of Languages and Literatures majoring in English.
      or
    • registered as a student in the main field of study English on a single-subject course at advanced level within a course of study towards a master's degree
      and
    • registered as a student and be an active student at the Faculty of Humanities, Department of Languages and Literatures, at the University of Gothenburg in the calendar year in which the scholarship is awarded.

    Ranking

    • Students in master's programmes are ranked by the number of credits completed in the main field of study. English in the first place, and secondly by the number of completed credits within the programme.
    • Students in single-subject courses are ranked according to the number of completed credits in the subject of English in the first place, and secondly the number of completed higher education credits.
    • Students on master's programs are ranked ahead of students on single-subject courses.
    • Students who receive the scholarship for the first time are prioritized over those who have received the scholarship before.
    • Doctoral students are ranked ahead of students on master's programs.

    Indicate the number of credits in English within the programme or single-subject course. Official transcript of records from Ladok are attached to the application.

    The application is made in the university´s application system. In order for your application to be complete it should be confirmed with BankID. Incomplete or late application will not be considered.

  • Faculty of Fine Applied and Performing Arts

    Arnulfska Foundation Scholarship Fund


    The Arnulfska Scholarship Foundation awards travel grants abroad to students at Valand's School of
    Fine Arts at the University of Gothenburg, preferably painters.


    The travel may only be made when it is not examinations or teacher-led lessons and you must be a registered program student at the time of the trip.
    The amount of the scholarship is SEK 25 000-50 000. The travel must be completed within one year
    of the decision. The scholarship can be used for exchange studies within programmes.

    The next application period is 18 April - 9 May 2023

    The scholarship must be applied for in the university´s application system. The application must be confirmed with BankID or signed and submitted by mail to be complete. 

    Last day of application is 9 May 2023.
    Late or incomplete application will not be processed.

    The costs of the travel covered by the scholarship must be reported in the application system no later

    The Foundation Otto and Charlotte Mannheimer

    Scholarships are now available from the Foundation Otto and Charlotte Mannheimer. The Founder aims to promote talented Swedish students pursuing studies in Fine Arts at the University of Gothenburg.

    Application period starts March 15, 2023.

    The scholarship can be used for material costs or travel and subsistence within the studies. The amount per scholarship is a maximum of SEK 10,000. The trip paid for by the scholarship must be completed within one year of the decision.

    The trip must not coincide with examinations or teacher-led lessons and the scholarship holder must be a registered program student when the trip is completed. The scholarship can be used for exchange studies within programs.

    Requirements


    To be eligible for she scholarship you must be a student registered in bachelor's or master's programs in Fine arts at the University of Gothenburg and hold a Swedish citizenship.

    The application is made in the university's application system. In order for your application to be complete, it should be confirmed either with BankID or signed and submitted by mail to be valid. Incomplete or late application will not be considered.


    Copy of passport or Birth certificate stating Swedish citizenship must be attached as an appendix.

    Last date of application is April 5th, 2023.

    The scholarship is founded to promote students becoming certified teachers at pre-school level and elementary level at the University of Gothenburg.

    • at the teacher program for pre-school or elementary level at the University of Gothenburg
    • achieved a minimum of 30 credits at one of the teacher programs at the University of Gothenburg
    • with a low annual income, not exceeding 190 400 SEK
    • having not received the grant more than once before

    You can apply and be granted a scholarship twice. Your application should indicate registration and authorised results from teacher program at the University of Gothenburg. Attached you will require to add:

    • The latest Income Tax Return from the Swedish Tax Agency
