Student teacher Vilde Andersen Engen has been awarded the 2024 Gunnar Svedberg Prize for her work with the student association Idrottsrådet (the Sports Council). The prize is awarded annually to a student who has contributed to the welfare of the University of Gothenburg’s students, ideally fostering increased collaboration between students across the university’s various departments.

Vilde Andersen Engen is enrolled in the subject teacher programme and serves as the chair of the student association Idrottsrådet. The association works to provide members of the Göta Student Union with opportunities for physical activity, including activities such as floorball, badminton, beachvolleyboll and football.

Through sport, student health is promoted, and her inclusive leadership fosters a welcoming environment where students can connect and enjoy time outside of their studies.

The jury further notes that Vilde Andersen Engen’s work exemplifies how student initiatives can contribute to a more cohesive and integrated student culture, making her a worthy recipient of the 2024 Gunnar Svedberg Prize.
