Faculty of Social Sciences
The Faculty of Social Sciences has the highest number of undergraduates in the University. Many of the most popular programmes at the University of Gothenburg are to be found here.
The Faculty is organised into seven departments where the vast majority of student-related work takes place. Most occasions when students come into direct contact with staff at faculty level are in relation to certain exchange study agreements or the internship course run across the faculty for students in most of our subjects.
The Faculty level allocates resources to and is responsible for quality assurance of research and education, runs some development projects (e.g. on study environments) as well as being responsible for shared facilities.
The Faculty is led by a Board of Directors and a management team consisting of the Dean, Pro-Dean, Vice-Dean and Head of Office. To support the management, there is a secretariat with officials who handle issues relating to education, research, finance, premises, etc. The secretariat also coordinates department-wide bodies such as the work environment committee, the premises committee, and a committee for educational issues, where issues relating to students' study and learning environment are discussed and prepared. Students have representatives in most of these bodies.
