The structure of the programme

The International Master's Programme in Information Technology and Learning consists of two years of full time studies (120 credits) ending with a Master's thesis (30 credits).

YEAR 1

Fall term:

Technology, knowledge and learning: An introduction, 15 credits, PDA675 
The course provides an introduction to IT and Learning as an international field of knowledge and application by presenting thematic structures and categorizations of the field.

Digital tools for communication and learning, 15 credits, TIA132 
The course provides knowledge and skills to design and develop IT-support and IT- supported learning activities through a user-centered approach.

Spring term:

Literacy in a digital world, 15 credits, PDA676 
The course deals with the transition from traditional understandings of literacy to contemporary research and policy discussions in the wake of the development of digital media and technologies.

Applied methods and design for information technologies and learning, 15 credits, TIA 130 
The course helps students to develop a solid understanding of key research designs and data analysis techniques used in educational technology research and evaluation.

YEAR 2

Fall term:

During the third term of the programme, students choose 30 credits worth of elective courses that are relevant to their thesis and career interests.

Spring term:

Master’s thesis in IT and learning, 30 credits, PDA699
This course consists of completing and defending a master’s thesis for the International Master’s Programme in IT and Learning.

Program council and student influence

The tasks of the program council consist of overall and strategic coordination, development, follow-up, and quality assurance within each program. The program council is made up of representatives from the departments as well as student representatives. Convener of the council is program leader Elin Nordenström. The student representative is Alice Catherine Fratoni.
