Special degree requirement for Economics
The programme covers four academic terms of full-time study (120) credits including three terms of courses, core (45 credits) and elective (45 credits), (total 90 credits), and one term of Master Degree Project (thesis writing - 30 credits). Of the programmes total 120 credits, at least 90 credits must be in Economics. Therefore, a minimum of 15 credits of elective courses must be in Economics.

Course and programme evaluations

Exchange studies
You can choose to study abroad term 2 and/or term 3. Both terms have core courses you need to find replacements for. Please note that all exchange studies are subject to availability, and you need to apply for each term you wish to go on exchange. Please contact International Office for more information about the application process.
Exchange during term 2
If you choose to study abroad during term 2 you must find replacements for the courses:
- Economic Research Process 7,5 ECTS (core)
- Elective courses that correspond to a minimum of 22,5 ECTS
Exchange during term 3
If you choose to study abroad during term 3 you must find replacements for the courses:
- Applied Econometrics 7,5 ECTS (core)
- Elective courses that correspond to a minimum of 22,5 ECTS
Core course/s
When looking for replacement courses for your core courses, start by reading the syllabi for the course you would have taken in Gothenburg. Find syllabus and reading list. Elective courses
- must be on a graduate level
- cannot have the same/almost the same content as another course you have taken/will take within your programme
- must cover the topics of business administration, finance, economics, economic history and/or economic geography.

Double degree
Students from the Msc in Economics have the opportunity to take part in a Double degree program at the University of Rome Tor Vegata, Italy or Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan. A Double Degree Program means that one year of your two-year master degree will be spent at the partner university and you will be awarded degrees from both universities.
Master degree project
The Master degree project course (a.k.a. Master thesis, 30 credits) is the final course in the second year, and it is crucial that you plan your studies accordingly to ensure that you can participate. The course has pre-requisites that needs to be fulfilled before the course starts. We encourage you to review the syllabus thoroughly to understand the specific requirements and make sure you fulfill them. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding the entry requirements please do not hesitate to reach out to the study counselling team.
During the autumn in the second year, you should start preparing for the Master degree project, e.g., draft your research proposal and find a thesis partner. You will be assigned a supervisor when spring semester starts.
