Student Account

You use your student account to log in to the Student Portal and access the learning platforms GUL and Canvas, Ladok, Wifi, and much more. In order to use your student account, you must first activate it.

Activate your student account

As a new student at the University of Gothenburg, you need to activate your student account. If you have a Swedish personal identity number and login information to universityadmissions.se or to eduID, you can activate your student account yourself. EduID is an e-service that enables you to activate and manage student accounts at Swedish universities throughout your study time.

When you activate your student account via universityadmissions.se or eduID, your username will be displayed directly on the screen and you choose your own password.

Please note that you must be admitted to a course or study programme at the University of Gothenburg in order to be able to activate your student account. You can activate your account about two weeks before the start of the course.

If you do not have a permanent Swedish personal identity number and/or you do not have login information to universityadmissions.se or eduID, you will not be able activate your student account yourself. Servicecenter can help you activate your student account, about two weeks before the start of the course at the earliest.

For security reasons, Serviceenter cannot send passwords via e-mail. You can pick up your login information at one of our Servicecenters in Gothenburg or we can send it via post to the address registered in our system.

  • International student without Swedish personal identity number

    If you do not have a permanent Swedish personal identity number, you will not be able to activate your student account yourself. 

    Servicecenter can help you with the login information, but for security reasons we cannot send passwords via e-mail. You can pick up your login information at one of our Servicecenters in Gothenburg or we can send it via post to the address registered in our Ladok system.

  • What do I do if I have forgotten my login information?

    If you have a Swedish personal identity number and have login information to universityadmissions.se or to eduID, you can set a new password to your student account.

    If you have a Swedish personal identity number and know your password, you can search for your username. Your username always starts with "gus".

  • I know my login information but it still doesn't work

    If you know your login information but still cannot log in, you can try to activate your student account again. If it still does not work, please contact Servicecenter.

  • How long will I keep my student account

    After two consecutive terms without any course registration, the account will be erased. Before the student account is deleted, information is always sent to your student e-mail address. 

    Your account will not be deleted if you have approved leave from studies during the terms when you have no course registrations.

     

     

  • How do I log in to the learning plattform Canvas and GUL?

    To log on to the learning platforms Canvas and GUL, use your student account username and password. You have to be registered to access your course in Canvas or GUL. Your department should inform you about which learning platform your course will be using.

  • How do I connect to the wifi?

    To log in to the wifi eduroam, add @gu.se to your username (gus••••••@gu.se) and your regular password.

  • What do I do if I have changed my name or have a new Swedish personal identity number?

    If you have changed your name officially at Skatteverket (Swedish Tax Agency), the name should automatically be changed in Ladok within 8 days. If you have a new Swedish personal identity number, or if your name change has not gone through, the information must be changed manually. Please bring a valid ID or certificate from Skatteverket, showing your new name or personal identity number, to one of our Servicecenters. Servicecenter will pass the information to Ladok and they will update it in the system.
