Programme structure

Semester 1

The first semester consists of the mandatory core course SK2121 Political Science Analysis.

In the second part of the semester, you can choose between five different courses. NOTE: you must take at least one methodology course (numbers 2-5) during the programme. Two of the courses require prior knowledge of methodology.

  1. PX2116 Political psychology. Core course. The course is given by the Department of Psychology.
  2. SF2323 Applied Qualitative Research Methods, problems and design
  3. SF2322 Applied Qualitative Research Methods
  4. SF2324 Introduction to Applied Research Design and Quantitative Research Methods for Social Scientists
  5. SF2321 Applied Statistical Analysis.

Semester 2

During the second semester, you will be taking two specialization courses:

Semester 3

In the first part of the third semester, you will take the mandatory core course PX2151 Environmental Psychology. The course is given by the Department of Psychology.

In the second part of the semester, you can choose between five different courses. NOTE: you must take at least one methodology course (numbers 2-5) during the programme. Two of the courses require prior knowledge of methodology.

  1. PX2116 Political psychology. Core course. The course is given by the Department of Psychology.
  2. SF2323 Applied Qualitative Research Methods, problems and design
  3. SF2322 Applied Qualitative Research Methods
  4. SF2324 Introduction to Applied Research Design and Quantitative Research Methods for Social Scientists
  5. SF2321 Applied Statistical Analysis.

Semester 4

In the fourth and final semester, you will work on your degree project within the course SK2532 Master's Thesis (30 credits). It is possible to change the order of semesters 3 and 4 for those who prefer to do the internship at the end.

Internship

You may do an internship in the summer through the Erasmus programme or as an optional fifth semester. Please reach out to Elin Ackerberg if you have any questions.

To apply for courses within the programme

As a student, you must submit your course applications for the upcoming semester through universityadmission.se. Please make sure to apply for the correct courses, follow the application process accurately, submit your application on time, and accept your place after the first round of selection to secure your spot. The education administrator will send you an email before each application round with information about which courses to apply for.
