In the Zoom video meeting service you can do chat, use camera/microphone, start break out sessions, share presentation, record your meeting etc.

The Zoom application

Always login with your student account and use the Zoom application for full functionality. Participation directly through web browser is supported but not with full functionality. For example, break out rooms is not supported.

Do the following to start using Zoom:

  1. Browse to https://gu-se.zoom.us and choose “Sign in”
  2. Login with your student account
  3. Now you can schedule meetings, view previous and upcoming meetings, change default meeting settings etc.


Personal meeting room

Everybody has a personal meeting room with a permanent link. This is useful in a lot of scenarios. Some choose to put the meeting link in their e-mail signature.

This is how to login from the desktop application of Zoom.

1) Click Sign in







2) Choose Sign in with SSO





3) Type gu-se





4) A web browser is launched. Enter your student account and password


On Zooms web site you can find manuals and information about the service.

GDPR and personal data

The zoom service at the university of Gothenburg is a SUNET service run by the nordic gateway for research and education, NORDUnet. This is different from the free zoom service available to anyone.
