Welcome as a student to the Master's Programme in International Administration and Global Governance. Below, you will find detailed information on how the four semesters are structured. We wish you the best of luck in your studies!

Programme structure
Semester 1
In the first semester, you will study two mandatory core courses:
- AG2110 Theoretical and Historical Perspectives on Global Governance
- AG2120 International Administration and Policy.
Semester 2
In the second semester, you have the option to specialize in two courses or engage in an internship for half or the entire semester. Alternatively, you can opt for study abroad through exchange studies. To complete your degree, you must enroll in at least one course marked with an asterisk (*) in either the second or the third semester.
During the first part of the semester, you can choose between:
- SK2212 The Quality of Government in a Comparative Perspective *
- SF2221 Global Security and Democracy *. The course is given by the School of Global Studies.
- AG2440 Internship (15 credits)
- AG2450 Internship (30 credits)
- Exchange studies (30 credits).
During the second half of the semester, you can choose from:
- SK2221 Environmental politics and institutions
- SK2222 Varieties of Democracy and Democratization
- Elective course from the list provided by the School of Global Studies
- Elective course from the list provided by the School of Business, Economy, and Law.
Semester 3
In the first part of the third semester, you should either select a course or participate in a half-term internship if you have not done so in the previous semester.
- SK2211 The Performance of Democracies *
- EU2210 European Environment and Energy *
- EU2215 Europe in the World *
- Elective course from the list provided by the School of Business, Economy, and Law
- AG2240 Internship (15 credits).
After that, you will take a methodology course – you can choose from the four options below. Two of the courses require prior knowledge of methods:
- SF2323 Applied Qualitative Research Methods, problems and design
- SF2322 Applied Qualitative Research Methods. The course is given by the School of Global Studies.
- SF2324 Introduction to Applied Research Design and Quantitative Research Methods for Social Scientists
- SF2321 Applied Statistical Analysis.
Semester 4
In the fourth and final semester, you will focus on your thesis within the AG2500 Master’s Thesis for IAGG course, which is worth 30 credits.
To apply for courses within the programme
As a student, you must submit your course applications for the upcoming semester through universityadmission.se. To secure your spot, it's important to apply for the correct courses, follow the application process correctly, submit your application on time, and accept your place after the first round of selection. Before each application round, the education administrator will email you information about which courses to apply for.
